Picard Season 2 Finale Images Hint At Time Travel Cliffhanger
A new batch of Star Trek: Picard season 2 images are released, and they may hint at a major upcoming cliffhanger ahead of the season finale.
Images from the Star Trek: Picard season 2 finale, “Farewell,” show Admiral Picard reuniting with an ancestor one more time. “Farewell” will conclude Star Trek: Picard’s sophomore season, which has unfolded with a time and space-spanning storyline in which audiences have had the chance to see alternate timelines and a comprehensive look at the past. The Picard season 2 finale, which will hit screens on May 5, will then be followed-up by the final Star Trek: Picard season 3, which will see the much-anticipated return of the entire main cast from Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Star Trek: Picard season 2 has contained many twists and turns, while focussing primarily on the life of Patrick Stewart’s Admiral Picard. The series has explored the childhood of the ex-Captain, examining how it impacts him in the present. Part of this exploration has involved the Starfleet Admiral meeting one of his ancestors, Renée Picard, whose vital Europa spaceflight mission is being interfered with by Q and the villainous Adam Soong.
Now, new images from the Star Trek: Picard season 2 finale shared by TrekMovie.com show Jean-Luc reuniting with Renée Picard once again. In one image specifically, the pair are sitting against a wall in a half-embrace, looking up at someone (or something) up above. The stills also show Raffi and Seven of Nine smiling as they interact with Rios, Dr. Teresa and her young son. Check out the images below:
The stills are careful not to give anything away about the Picard season 2 finale, which will undoubtedly be packed full of its own surprises. They also show no sign of the show’s present day, which Admiral Picard and his make-shift team are attempting to return to, or any scenes set on a starship. Audiences will therefore wonder if Picard season 2 could end on a cliffhanger, in which the cast actually remain stuck in the past, with the characters only returning to the universe’s present day when Star Trek: Picard season 3 begins.
No matter how it ends, the Picard season finale has a lot of work to do if it is to tie up the remaining multiple plot points. The series still has to explain Q’s plans and motivations, wrap up the story of Adam Soong and his daughter Kore, address the outcome of Admiral Picard’s romantic pursuits, and perhaps most of all, show the fate of Agnes Jurati and the Borg Queen. With the finale’s imminent release, Star Trek: Picard fans won’t have too long to wait until they find out whether or not “Farewell” manages to stick the landing, or leaves its characters in a tough situation.
