Yes, it can be done! And, following the mandated guidelines of socially distancing and the donning of masks, members of the Mineola-Garden City Rotary Club proved that it can be.
Members enjoyed an evening of fellowship on Wednesday, July 29. “Gourmet Pizza Night” featured Garden City gourmet pizzas from Franklin Avenue’s Garden City Pizza owned by 2020 Community Service Award co-recipient Greg Bavaro. Rotarians gathered informally in the field behind the Mineola law offices of Diane Pacifico Marmann, Esq., Club president.
This was the first Club meeting – face-to-face, since Mayor Theresa Trouvé addressed the Club at its traditional lunch meeting on March 9. Since then, the 2020 pandemic guidelines had broken Rotary’s format of 2nd and 4th Monday lunch meetings of the month at the Garden City Hotel. The Club has been meeting virtually through zoom, hosting a cross section of speakers.
On August 24, the Club will hold a 2nd event featuring the fare of Tony Lubrano’s Piccola Bussola in Mineola. Tony is the co-recipient of the coveted Community Service Award. Both gentlemen will be appropriately honored at Rotary’s 2020 Holiday Luncheon Party on December 7.
