The 11 best glamping getaways are just a road trip away from Houston

Are the lure of the open road, fresh country air and a Texas treehouse escape at the top of your bucket list for 2021?

If so, you’re not alone.

OFF THE GRID: These are the top 2 Texas travel destinations in 2021

In fact, 2020 was a record-breaking year for travel accommodation platform GlampingHub, with a 109 percent spike in booking requests compared to previous years, according to the company’s public relations officer Olivia Grafton.

Glamping offers a little something unique — like camping, sans roughing it.

“With glamping, you don’t need to have outdoor experience,” HoneyTrek glamping blogger Anne Howard told Chron. “It’s easy access to nature, with creative structures like tipis and treehouses. These spots tread lightly on the land and integrate with nature.”

Whether you wish to venture off to a modern tipi, a yurt or a magical treehouse, the adventurous glamper has plenty of options in Texas. The upside to glamping rather than staying at a hotel is that the accommodations are in an isolated location.

We’ve rounded up 11 glamping destinations for your next safe adventure, all less than five hours away from Houston in driving time.
