Life’s WORC to Honor Geraldo, Founder at 50th Anniversary Gala
Life’s WORC, a Back garden Town-based nonprofit that provides solutions for men and women with mental and developmental disabilities such as autism spectrum condition, will host a party to celebrate the golden anniversary of its founding.
The Life’s WORC 50th Anniversary Gala scheduled for April 1 at The Backyard City Hotel will honor its founder Victoria Schneps-Yunis, who’s also founding president of Lengthy Island Push dad or mum organization Schneps Media. It will also honor Geraldo Rivera, the Tv set reporter whose sequence exposing the squalid problems at the Willowbrook State University, then the largest establishment in the country serving small children with developmental disabilities, compelled its closure in the 1970s. Schneps, whose daughter was a Willowbrook resident, founded Life’s WORC in reaction to the scandal and the group went on to open up a series of team homes throughout Extensive Island and New York City.
The gala will feature a menu developed by The Back garden City Hotel’s legendary chef David Burke, new music carried out by four-piece Beatles include band The Blast, and a application presenting the heritage of Life’s WORC. Serving as master of ceremonies will be Life’s WORC Interim CEO Matt Zebatto.
In attendance will be prolonged-standing supporters of the business, including its Board of Administrators led by Chair Lynne Koufakis, Vice Chair Michael Billia, Secretary John Lee and Treasurer Ron Aghassi. Elected officials, members of the local community serving persons with mental and developmental disabilities, and associates of the nearby business local community are also predicted.
The function will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2022 at The Backyard City Hotel, 45 7th St. in Garden Metropolis.
